When I done my granddaughters last week, I just kept refreshing it, and after about 20 minutes it was approved.

Last week ours took about 30 mins... just go and have coffee or something, come back and its all good

Things are a bit different than the norm due to the US Govt shutdown.
Traditionally it can literally take just a few minutes. We did ours 2 weeks ago and it took about 36 hours which was 'normal' for that time. It appears things are a bit better currently and hopfully it will return to normal when/if the shutdown is resolved.

Looking on other sites and they are reporting that ESTA’s are taking longer. Normally our have been approved within seconds of completing application but now coul take 1 to 2 Days.
