Bioluminescent kayaking

Has anyone done the bioluminescent kayaking over near the east coast? If so, what time of the year did you do it and would you recommend it? Thanks!

I've not done this, but we did go swimming in the luminous lagoon in Jamaica and loved it - id always wanted to see bioluminescent waters and it was brilliant. I didn't know about this in Florida

Yeah i just saw his vlog this week when i was looking into it more. Ive contacted the company he used to see what the chances of seeing the bioluminessence are in October as thats when we plan to go, they've said theres still a chance but there are also jellyfish at that time which glow so theres a good chance to see something. I just dont know if it will be a mosquito heaven!

It looks magical

We were going to go when on a cruise once but it was full moon, apparently you want it dark to have the best effect so we decided not to.
Check the moon phases for your dates.

Hi. Last July we had a tour around Amazing Animals and Kylie (the co owner) is friends with Tim Tracker (she's the one in his vlog on the bioluminescence kayaking). She said she'd done the kayaking with him the previous night. That was late July, maybe early August so that time of year is definitely good.. She said it was amazing except for the amount of mosquitoes bitting everybody! We decided against it only because our DD5 is really young for night time kayaking and it goes on until quite late at night.

We've done this a couple of times in Canaveral National Seashore national park, and it is absolutely fascinating. Yes, there WILL be mosquitoes (so cover yourselves in a good insect repellant like Cutter or Off!) but the sight of everything underwater leaving luminescent trails like underwater fireworks is truly astounding. It only happens in the hottest periods of the year - usually August and sometimes into September - when the water is warmest, but is well worth looking out for.
