Any places you can stay near Disney that you can walk to restaurants/shops?

Just booked this afternoon to go to Disney for a week (arrival 11 July) before off to New York.

Went previously in 2009 and stayed in a Treehouse at SS - fantastic but very pricey. We also found going down to a restaurant every day was quite tiring and noisy after a day in the park especially as we have a disabled son.

We'd like to stay in a villa off site with a pool but if possible be able to walk to a restaurant/shops if we wanted to - does such a place exist? Even an onsite bar/restaurant/shop?

Communities on the 27 highway might be worth looking at. Glenbrook, Silver Creek and up as far as Orange Tree. DS and I have done the walk a couple of times, it's about 15 to 20 mins. There's a Walmart and a few restaurants and fast food outlets, and also a Walgreens chemist. The Drive to Disney is about 15 to 20 mins too. Hope that helps

Glenbrook you can but personally we found the resort quite out of the way. The ugh the villa was beautiful...
