Heathrow by train

Hi there - we usually fly from Gatwick and travel there from the north but Virgin are now flying out of Heathrow. Has anybody travelled by train to Heathrow and where is best to stay - we usually stay at the premier inn at Gatwick as we’re a family of five so need two rooms.

Thanks in advance

Not sure on the best place to stay, but you are best getting the Heathrow Express if you can, book it in advance and its cheaper.

I've used the train into Paddington and the HEX to LHR & stayed at the Hilton T4 but any of the "on airport" hotels would work. I've used the PI T4 several times.

The free inter-terminal transport is ending soon though (if it hasn't already)

We flew down but used the PI at T4. There are free trains to move between platforms.

I would consider the train to Kings Cross and the Heathrow Express. The Heathrow express is excellent. Extremely quick and easy to use. Booked far enough in advance it’s not too pricey either.

When we fly from LHR we travel by train to Euston then book private car transfer with blackberry cars to premier inn on Bath Road. Last time was 2019 and cost Ł30, excellent service, used many times.
Can't be bothered up and down escalators etc with suitcases

Excellent thank you all so much for your help! I’ll book the Premier Inn at T4 it’s only about Ł80 for both rooms so great for five of us and then hopefully book the train nearer the time! Cross fingers for August everybody and thanks for your help x

Have you got a source for this or are you getting confused with the free TFL bus zone ending?

We've always got the bus from PI T4 to T5 as it's quicker than the trains & goes from right outside the hotel. That's already ended (or suspended? ).
Not sure about the tube but am fairly sure I read that was expected to follow.
