Electric car charging spaces ?

Hello,

I don’t know about everywhere else, but here in Exeter we are having several electric car charging points installed which then have electric car only spaces marked out beside them.

I’ve noticed that many of the machines installed are still currently covered over and so are not yet operational. Does that mean that for the moment non-electric car users can park there until they are functional?

I’m just asking as I need to take the dog to the groomers shortly and there are two such spaces near the shop! I saw a car parked there yesterday and saw that the machines are still not up and running. Can I risk parking there for five-ten minutes? (It’s pouring with rain here and we will literally get drenched there and back - not so bad on the way, but would quite like the dog to arrive home in a reasonable state after her pampering!) 😂

You may be fined. I would not risk it. Also parking in electric spaces is highly frowned upon (when they are working though, no electric car owner will bother if it’s covered over). It’s called ICEing to park a petrol car in the bay and stop someone charging.

I woudn't risk it - I guess you could legally park an electric car there shout needing to charge it . An over zealous traffic warden could ticket a non electric car (they certainly would around here/Wandsworth !)

Why not park a 4ltr diesel SUV there with a note on the windscreen - Clarkson made me do it.

What about an electric vehicle parked but not plugged in!
That what happens to us we managed to park in the space next to, and stretch the lead around.
