I remember batch loaves as a child visiting my grandma in Norn Iron. it seemed really strange compared to warburton or rathbones at home in Manchester

They taste like they look, burnt. I can’t eat them but a couple of guys I work with love them. Square sausage (lorne, to many) is great. Going to have to go and get some.

We’re well acquainted with plain loaves here in n.Ireland as well as our delicious soda and potato bread. Don’t have square sausage though!

to be fair the example that l posted are well burnt not well just well fired. the texture of the roll is normally soft and fresh inside

l would love to be tucking into this for breakfast with a slice of haggis or black pudding on it
