Good question... it used to be OK, for larger dogs, but toothpastes today can contain xylitol which is toxic for dogs, and fluoride levels are now generally too high for small dogs. You can get dog toothpastes, but dogs teeth are generally shaped differently and have very small gaps, so unless you are getting the floss out, Fido may still need work after 7 or 8 years.

Our little fur baby had her teeth cleaned 3 months ago it cost £300. But this was a special offer!

Depends on the size of the dog and how long it will take.
My cat cost 5k for hers, having her teeth out set off a condition called FOPS. Sadly with FOPS we can look forward to more dental, as it creates teeth lesions. Teeth are expensive 😭, but id recommend keeping on top of them though.

Oh and if you have insurance then check your cover. Petplan cover teeth (thank god!) but they have to have treatment soon after its been recommended by the vet.

I use our electric toothbrush on my dogs, start soon enough and they accept it. Their own tooth brush heads of course & only ever doggie toothpaste.

Flo had a dental before we got her 12 months ago..teeth removed and what was left cleaned...we clean them ourselves now..they seem ok
But when we had Lily. she had her teeth cleaned lots of time..it was nearly every 12/18 months as she would only eat chicken and it used to cost all of 40 euros as we lived in Spain at the time and she also had a heart murmer. When we come back here her last dental was £700...no insurance...but had to be done...a lot of that was probably down to her age as she was 16 at the time. Sometimes I wonder if they just pick prices out of the Sky! I would love veneers and keep putting it off!😁..things we do for our fur babies💗 x Edited at 07:13 PM. |

I used plaque off on my dogs and was very, very impressed. I will try to upload before and after pictures. I now clean their teeth twice a week with doggie toothpaste and they LOVE it.
