ADR Character meals - how will these work?

Hi, can I just get your opinions please.

I'm booked for POFQ from 20th Aug 2020, like many people after yesterdays Disney update we are undecided on what to do even if we can travel.

We have a few ADR with characters arranged but now meet and greet is unavailable (in July) there is a very good chance it will still be unavailable when we travel in August (if we go).

My question is if you cant do meet and greet how do you think the character meal bookings will play out or do you think they will be cancelled?

Thanks

I would assume (but this is not confirmed!) they won't be able to run, or it will be a very different experience? I imagine there will be no buffets and the characters would just be in the restaurant, not meeting and greeting?

Normal meet and greets are considered as high contact experiance so they have been suspended. Nothing was mentioned regarding ADR meet and greet, you may want to contact WDW direct and ask if it has been cancelled or if the dining experiance will be changed.

They may just have characters walk through and not stop at tables, if this was the case would you still want to go through with it?

I suspect the meals will still happen (albeit not the buffets) and characters may appear, but you won't be able to interact with them and they won't greet people at their tables. So, in effect, you will be booking a regular meal.

It's up to you whether booking a regular meal is something you want to do.

I am sure these kind of details will be released in due course. But in August, a mere month after opening, I would guess at there not being any character meals. I also would expect all buffet restaurants to be closed as number of guests will be limited anyway. I suppose they could keep them open but food would be brought to the table by a server.

As it stands right now, buffets are a thing of the past (including salad bars in restaurants).

Las Vegas (the spiritual home of the buffet) have banned all buffets in their locality and I know many other municipalities have done the same
