Nobody is arguing with that. The objections are to the criticisms of owners who are doing nothing wrong. It’s not their fault that the renters bought insufficient cover or the insurers are refusing to pay. Why not ask the insurers to show the “goodwill”?

I found I had to at least ask so I could provide my insurer with evidence that I was out of pocket as the owner wouldn't return any monies. Fair enough it was in their t&C's so not quibbling. But frustrated that insurance didn't cover it.
Yes that must be extremely frustrating. Insurance is a minefield and the terms and conditions are usually so lengthy and confusing that it becomes impossible to understand. However, I don’t think it’s fair that many other people seek to complain about villa owners and even refer to them as “bad owners” for doing absolutely nothing wrong! The terms and conditions are accepted by both once the booking is confirmed

I had to take another policy for DH's medical conditions, the other policy is packaged with other things and doesn't cover his pre existing conditions. I'm not claiming off both, so although insurance companies can ask for a contribution, they don't cancel each other out leaving me with no cover, as far as I am aware. Quite a few people I've spoken to have 2 insurance policies, as many have bank insurance for example, as it provides other things as well as travel. Both of mine are DH's work related policies.

Sounds a plan. I don't know anything about insurance, was just regurgitating what I had picked up from another thread. Sorry, should have made that clear!

Absolutely this. I wasn't cross with the person sticking with their t&C's and nor would I call them out for it. Nor are those who do "bad owners".

But, and this is a separate point I guess, it did take me weeks to get an answer out of them. There are some very poor communicators out there. But, and it's a really big but, I have no idea what was going on in their lives at that time.

We all just need to have an extra bit of patience and tolerance in these testing times.

Easy to say, not so easy to do. Patience and tolerance is not top of my list when discussing the state of my kids rooms. And my communication is pretty terse too.

So do as I say not as I do 😂

Exactly and I wasn’t meaning you! You have been fair and reasonable as ever.

Are villas allowed to be let out at this time in Florida? If not then the agent/owner may have to refund as they can't supply what is paid for, a bit like a cancelled flight. Again T&C's though, as the villa I have booked has force majeure as follows:

"Force majeure – we or our agents will not be liable for loss or delay occasioned by any of the following: Strikes, Riots, Political Unrest, War, or Threat of War, Terrorist Activity, Airport Closure, weather Conditions, Fire, Flood or any other event beyond our control."

So it may as well just read "any event beyond our control".
