You can but you’d be risking losing the deposit for the first booking. Unless you’re fixed on a specific resort then I’d wait.

You’d need to cancel and rebook so little point

Disney “might” move your deposit as well but no guarantee and they shouldn’t, especially to simply apply an offer

Yes but there is no point in pre-booking. Each TA, including WDTC will receive an allocation of rooms that offer free dining. If there is free dining available on the hotel / room type you pre-booked then I am sure they will move you over. But there is no advantage to you “holding” the room you want. They will either have availability for you when free dining is released or they will not.

Actually if they will move you (the T&Cs say they won’t) I can see the point. Back in 2017 when we booked for 2019 the WDW crashed most of release date (god I hate Stitch lol). Standard rooms with free dining were pretty much snaffled on release date or shortly after. I ended up booking with VH (wasn’t too bad price wise) and got an upgrade to a preferred room as VH couldn’t get anymore standard rooms with free dining.

So I understand - I’ve actually emailed Ocean Florida to ask them as others are suggesting they will move you to free dining if released.

My dates are pretty much fixed due to work commitments and we want AKL as the other deluxe hotels are too expensive. If AKL only had upgraded rooms we would give it a miss. Moderate (CBR) last year didn’t cut it. After deluxe it’s a struggle to go back to moderate.

Yes but that will only work if the room you booked is included and they genuinely add free dining. What I suspect they actually would do is cancel the original booking and move you to a different, free dining booking. In that case you have just as much chance as anyone else.

The other thing is that offers such as free dining are used to drive more bookings. If people have already booked there is no incentive for Disney to offer free dining!

I moved out July 2020 booking to September 2021. Cancelled and rebooked. Was very clearly told if free dining comes out I can apply it if it’s available for my room or swap rooms/resorts as necessary and apply it. We will see.

That is very good of them. In that case not sure why we are all waiting 🤔

Because their T&Cs contradict it? I’m not saying people haven’t been told they can change but until Disney put it in writing on their booking terms page I wouldn’t feel confident that it would happen.
