The season starts in late March/April and the regular season ends in September, (Ray's last home game on the 21st)... But if they stay were they are at the moment
They might make the play offs and even the world series
Which is un-heard of

We are going in August - we arrive late on the 4th and are driving to St Pete the next day (about 75 mins) for an afternoon game. The 1st time we went we bought $5 tickets and paid for parking - now parking is included in the ticket price. The Sunday buffet brunch is very good - not as cheap as some but it is great to watch the team warm up on the pitch - last year the window was hit right where we were sitting - made the kids day! They then spend the whole game trying to catch balls - we got one loast year.

We are definitely going to see a game next year as it is our first time in Florida in regular baseball season. My DS plays over here and is a big fan of the game.

Hubby saw Tbdr play the NYY in 2006,he is going again this year in September to see tham play the Minnesota Braves.

There is a free Trolley to the stadium from the Pier.

We went to our first baseball game in 2005. Watched the Rays thrash the Yankees 11-4.
2006 and 2007 we have been to Minor League games at Lakeland [Lakeland Tigers affiliated to Detroit Tigers] and at Legends Field Tampa to watch the Tampa Yankees play the Clearwater Threshers. Minor league games cost about $6 to watch and you get to sit where you like.
Also went to Dodger Stadium in LA last March to watch part 1 of a 3 game promo series against the Red Sox.
Season will have just started when we go back next Easter but havent decided on a Major League or a Minor League game yet.

We also get out to the short oval race tracks to watch the stock car racing. Now thats a true Redneck night out and virtually guaranteed to be the only Brits at the track.

Hmmm there's an idea... Combine Busch with a visit to the ball game...
Will DW go for that ? ? ?
Well that will be a big fat no then...
Looks like a seperate trip for DD and the bear.

My first trip to baseball was under duress but I loved it, kids were the same - I do not like sport as a rule! The Tropicana stadium is covered and the air con is a welcome relief after a day at the parks. I am sure your wife would enjoy the experience if not the baseball.

There are quite a few tracks in Florida. One of my favourites is a half mile tarmac track in New Smyrna, just south of Daytona.
I find my racing here chasinracin

Some samples of racing and the track uk.youtube/watch?v=b2MsLBnV4rQ

And my alltime favourites the Sprint Cars uk.youtube/watch?v=aNqADK...eature=related

Racing is virtually every Saturday from March to November, but please note they WILL NOT race in the wet.

Enjoy

Stuart
