Yes you pay... and you have to go back to Alamo to sort it out ... and it’s expensive!
I’m not 100% sure but I think it was $30 or $40 a day!
I will double check once my husband gets up.

I have it in my Volvo. It needs a Sim (data type) fitted in to a Sim holder in the boot area and then you just use the WiFi setting on your phone or tablet etc and you can then surf on the move. When you first add the phone etc the password appears on screen and after that it does it automatically .

Is that the same for cars with built in hotspots? Or an external device?

We have picked up a Chevy Suburban (upgraded from full size SUV at MCO, booked through you Andy ) and it has a 4G wifi hotspot built in, comes up on the dash.

I haven't connected to it in case they charge, but looking at the Chevy website its a built in SIM which costs $20 a month for the owner of the car.

I might email Alamo and see what they say?

This has got me thinking - always dangerous!

So how does my BMW connect to live traffic updates? Also I can press a button and speak to BMW assist. Plus I get messages on the display off them ref appointments etc

Does that mean there is a SIM Card built in?

Our car this year, although it was Avis, had inbuilt WiFi but we couldn’t access it without payment.

Loads of features now. We even connected to an operator once who sent directions/map through to the car.
