I know DS had to get his 'repaired' same day we got it, they were really good. Think he had bashed it the way 4 year olds do. A staff member was trying to help him do a spell, realised it was the tip that was broken so directed us to the shop to get it repaired.
Ah cool - yeah I basically heard they replaced them if they developed issues and just stupidly presumed they had a battery

We needed a repair this year - we originally bought it in 2017- the repaired wand looked slightly different on its return- similar but an updated version- my daughter was a little upset though- We started with one and shared- but now kids have 1 each as they enjoyed it so much

You make your own with a stick and some IR reflective tape

I bought my wand in 2014 in Florida and it worked last year in Universal Hollywood, so I would imagine it works still in Florida - I'll test it next year!

The entire wand experience is brilliant. You can join a small wand making tour and if you are lucky (cute or little) you might get the wizard to help you choose your wand. Wands cost about $55 and work at wand sites all over the Harry Potter areas of both parks. (look for the gold marks on the floor) It takes a little getting used to but soon my 9 yr old was doing magic all over the place. Flushing toilets, waking up animals, turning on sprinklers etc. All good fun and he was pleased as punch with the wand (which looks great) as well as the cool tricks he could do with it. Comes in a nice box and really looks the part. Well worth the money in our opinion. Yes you can get the battery replaced at no charge if it run out. (it should easily last a week or two heavy use though).

There is no battery in the wands, there are no electronics what so ever.
They are just a plastic stick and IR reflective bead, thats it.
