Miami Immigration

We landed 28july 4pm - queue moved quickly at immigration - didn’t use kiosk, straight to garage for car and out all with an hour

Back in May but we used self scan, queued for it, almost everyone who used it had a least one person in their group get a cross, 2 hours to get to an immigration officer. It was not fun.

Yesterday, at Philadelphia , queue didn’t seem big but there was literally only one officer on when we arrived and that took an hour.

I have to say it’s starting to put me off going to the states! We’re thinking of exploring east for a while.

Similar experience on the 1st. 2 hour wait and car hire queu made it about 3.

Albeit earlier this year, but we were behind 2 other trans Atlantic planes, we were through immigration and driving out of the airport in just under 1 hour which was very surprising, but what surprised us most was a FRIENDLY immigration officer (an unheard of species)

Nightmare! when we arrived only our plane but took 2 hrs, making everyone use the kiosks and about 99% got a cross so queued again to see immigration officer. Then to top it off some lovely person is using the same name as me as an alias so then got sent to another area not sure what they checked just asked where we were staying & for how long & off we went 😳 have visited US lots of times never had this before only thing different was a new passport ESTA went through fine.

We arrived on the 11th and to be honest it wasn’t great!

We had to wait 45 minutes on the plane as there wasn’t a gate available.

Immigration took about 90 minutes.
Long queues for the self scan machines and both my daughter and I got a x - so then long queue for an officer (who was actually very friendly)

At least the bags were waiting for us when we finally got through (not the biggest surprise as we’d been so long!)

We stayed the night at the EB Hotel Miami - which was a great hotel and it had the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in!

Picked the car up next morning - no wait time at all.

Seems very much hit and miss just like all the other US airports we have flown into

We have a 3 and a half our stop over before our flight to MCO so fingers crossed we should have plenty of time

We flew out on the 10th and was exactly the Same as this!
