I wonder why they have rules if people just choose to ignore them?

I would just get a smaller bag...I have seen folks pulled up at the gate so not worth it. You might even find they will be extra strict on the return from Munich

I think the problem you’d have is fitting them in the overhead lockers. 8cm is quite a bit over so they’d probably have to go in sideways and that would take up quite a bit of space. If you were on first the other people sharing the locker might not be able to fit their cases in or if someone one else was on first then yours wouldn’t fit.

We travel with AL quite a lot. I generally bring a laptop rugsack with me, not sure of the dimensions, but it's quite large. DW's handbags, some of them, can fit the contents of a house . Never had an issue with any of them. I've no real reason to suspect this, but I do, if the bags were not obviously handbags/laptops/baby changing etc, but more a suitcase type, they might be a bit stricter.
I'm pretty sure the 2nd 'personal' bag is supposed to go under the seat in front, not in the overhead locker. But I've never seen anyone stopped doing it unless the flight is really full.

Thanks..its just the small personal item... the cabin bags that will go in the overhead locker are smaller than the required size so they should fit ok! Thanks..Yeah its just a soft rucksack and wont be stuffed full so hopefully it will be ok!
