Since last summer all Disney booths give the same price for the value of the ticket (and price to upgrade to Platinum is shown on the app as well). The only time it differs is if the pass isn't in the system properly (I think its called something like if it shows as a Select pass rather than the Ultimate) at which point the value is significantly less. This has made it much more consistent and you don't have to shop around any more as you will get the same price everywhere.
I haven’t bought my tickets yet and just trying to work out the best value way to get them and upgrade one but I’ve read that you can now upgrade to annual on the app is this only possible if you have a ticket linked to the app already , I’m trying to find out how much it would to upgrade either b a 14 or a 21 day ultimate xxx

Yes its only possible if you have the ticket linked and used one day of the ticket. The only way to know is to go by previous posts pricing. Anything since last summer would be approx right - exchange rate I guess could mean that the cost changes slightly. In September my 14 day ticket was $489.05 according to my receipt

From my experience, You have to go to guest services, the App won’t let you upgrade or give you a price. I upgraded from 21 day to platinum plus AP

I paid $385 each including tax to go from 14 day ultimate to Platinum at Disney Springs at Xmas- but that was with DVC discount.

If anyone is still interested: in November 2019 a 21-day Ultimate booked with free dining was valued at $624 on the app. Guest services saw a lower value in their system, I think about $100 lower, but they were willing to adjust the value to $624 when showing them the info on the app. The difference here is that when upgrading on the app it calculates the value excluding tax but GS counted it as including tax. As an example:

A platinum pass is now $1195 before tax. The app calculates the upgrade price as $1195-$624= $571, then adds 6.5% tax = $608.12. If GS has to adjust the value of your ticket to $624 then they calculate it as $1195 + 6.5% tax= $1272.68 - $624 = $648.68.

It is worth asking around but if GS calculates the upgrade as mentioned above then you are effectively getting an extra $40 discount on the platinum + if you upgrade on the app. This may have changed in 2020 but in late 2019 you could only upgrade to the platinum + on the app. GS can upgrade you to any AP you are eligible for.

Oh, and if your tickets are part of a package then you can upgrade even before entering a park. The upgrade option was there after we checked in but before we entered a park. Upgrading before entering a park with stand-alone tickets can likely only be done at GS or the ticket desk in Disney Springs.

How did you see the value on the app?
