Oh yes I remember them all - and our Coal man still calls every Monday.
We had an old gramophone (which was my grandparents) in our house - all the records were kept nicely in sleeves - His Master Voice with the little dog on - when we were moving house my brother used the records as target practice with his air rifle and my Dad burnt the gramophone because we didn't have room for it where we were moving.
Oh imagine the price of it now!

Especially the shilling slot for gas then the man came and emptied it and sometimes you got money back

I remember them all. I also remember the slot meters in friends houses. Suddenly all the lights would go out and one of them would stick another coin in the meter. They lasted long enough to become 50p slots.

In fact the likes of holiday camps used them and you used to have to take a bag of 50p coins to keep the meter fed in the apartment.

Yep. Remember them all. My Mum would would get so mad when she found the dinner hadn't cooked in the oven because she hadn't realised the meter had run out.

No bus conductor... no need with no buses... we took the post bus everywhere, you had to wait whilst the postie did postbox pickups.

It was a different world.
