Sunset Walk isn't really "within" the resort which is actually a plus IMO. The restaurants are more reasonably priced than if they were within a resort. Two more restaurants have just opened there as well. A seafood place with live music and a Memphis BBQ one. I haven't been but both look good.
OP, the cottages are abit of a walk from Sunset Walk but still doable. You will have far more space than a Disney deluxe hotel room and if you are renting a car will be able to park right outside your room instead of having a long trek to the parking lot. I find that a real downside to "posh" resorts.
