Discovery cove in August, weather worries.
We are looking to change our April booking to August (hoping/fingers crossed).
Discovery cove is very good at changing the date for our booking incl cabana. It would be $450 more to book it now, but they are honoring the original price. We could also ask a refund. I am a bit worried about the weather in August, rain & thunderstorms. It wouldn't be nice to not be allowed to enter the water for a (few) hour(s). We will have a cabana so some rain will be ok. What is your experience? |

i think we have been to discovery cove about 3 times in august and have lost about an hour once due to weather so wouldn't worry to much just make sure you get there early so you get a morning dolphin swim etc as the majority of storms tend to be mid afternoon.
two thing's worth knowing are book your day for early in your holiday as if you are really unlucky with a total wash out day they will usually let you reschedue which obviously is no use if you book it for the day before you come home also as the cabana's are waterside if there is a storm in the area the cabana's are cleared as well as the water and water side so you will not be able to stay there ( except in my case where my wife and kids were stuck away from the water and the staff managed to miss me having a nap in the hammock in the cabana right through the storm, most peaceful point of my holiday)

As mentined, get there early and do as much as possible as most of the time it rains later on, Ive done it before in August and it didnt rain until about 3 o clock.

We stayed in our cabana when the rain hit.
Had a little nap and then resumed swimming with the rays. We were lucky enough to get a cabana next to the Grand Reef. Fantastic memories!

We’ve been to DC several times in august and only remember having rain once and that was around 4pm. We always get there at opening time and so leaving at 4 was ok amd didn’t spoil our day. We usually try and book for mid holiday incase we need to reschedule due to bad weather but that has never happened so far.
