I think you can reset the pin quite easily if you’ve forgotten it. It’s on the Help section when you press the Home button. You need the bank account details that you pay Sky from to start the process.

Reset your PIN:
Press Home on your Sky Q remote, select My Account then Reset PIN.
Depending on how you pay your bill, you'll be asked to type certain security information.
Type your new PIN twice.
Press Dismiss to finish.

So record a film or TV series that is on after 9pm and watch it at 3pm the next day it will ask for the pin.

we use the same pin as the one we use to access our account details via our sky box
