CBR - 2016 v 2019?

We stayed at CBR during our first onsite stay in 2016 - we fell in love with it, the colours, wildlife, smells, the lake and just the overall feel of the place. We were supposed to stay there in 2018 but changed due to the renovations. We've since stayed at POFQ twice, All Star Music and the Contemporary.

We are booked into All Star Sports again in August 20, for 5 nights with upgraded dining. We really enjoyed it in October this year, but with the upgraded dining it's coming in at about the same price as CBR.

I keep looking at CBR and thinking shall we change, but my opinion of it is pre refurb, so for anyone who stayed before the changes, and has stayed since, what are your thoughts? Do you prefer it now compared to before? The skyliner and the more modern rooms compared to ASS is appealing, plus the 5th sleeper (which is available meaning the one of the kids wont have to share with us!) and my parents are coming with us for the first time so I want them to have a positive experience!

Does anyone have any feedback on staying at CBR now compared to it before the refurb? Thanks!

We stayed before the refurb and loved it, and then stayed in October this year and loved it even more! Thought the Skyliner was great, but love what they've done to OPR (the lobby smells amazing!), plus the Spyglass Grill. Wouldn't hesitate to go back

I have not stayed at CBR since the refurbishment but have stayed at all the moderates, many deluxes but never a value. To me, values look like a cheap. I assume your parents are older so may not find the values theming wonderful. I much prefer the tropical look of many of the mods and some of the deluxes. I usually fly out of an area with well over a foot of snow on the ground and I wants to be fully aware, I am someplace warm.

The other thing is while not big, moderate rooms are bigger and you have queen rather than full sized beds.

Thank you both!

I’ve changed the booking to CBR...watched a couple of walk throughs earlier and remembered why we loved it so much in 2016... really looking forward to staying there and managed to book the 5th sleeper room so my youngest doesn’t have to share with his dad!

Vicki - what location were you in? We stayed in Jamaica in 2016 which was fab, but Trinidad looks a good area now?

I stayed in a Trinidad in September this year and the room had not been refurbished.

You stayed in a Pirate room didn’t you? I don’t think any of those have been refurbed. Do you know if they have standard rooms in that area?

It was a pirate room, although I did not book a pirate room. I booked a standard room but when I opened the door it was pirate themed. I don’t know about other rooms.

We were in Martinique, room 2525 in block 25 - so easy to remember

Trinidad is all pirate themed rooms and there aren't any with the 5th sleeper so you definitely won't be there. Barbados is good, but it's classed as a preferred area, so if you've just booked a standard room then you might get lucky and be upgraded to there. We booked a standard room and got Martinique which is also a preferred area. We stayed in Jamaica in 2017 and loved it. Jamaica and Aruba are the standard room areas. If you get a room elsewhere then it would be classed as an upgrade. I'd be quite happy anywhere in all honesty
