not the same thing, but i'm not impressed with Uber at the minute, loved them in Orlando but I had an issue with a driver in Manchester taking us to the wrong location despite having a satnav and charging us double what it should have been, complained to Uber who weren't interested even though it records the route, complained to Paypal who refunded the money, fast forward a month and Uber then take the money back from my Paypal as it is showing as an unpaid payment on my account, Paypal refuse to pay it again as they have already refunded me (fair enough), seems like a bit of a con from Uber that there's no way you can claim money back if you are overcharged

Don't get tipping taxi drivers - if I buy a loaf of bread and its £1 - I don't say take £1.20.

I pay what is on the meter and that's it :-)

I think you have misunderstood. The driver wasn’t telling OP that they had to tip or how much to tip. He was asking OP to put a £10 tip on the app and in return would give OP £10 note, so no financial impact to OP, but Uber would match the tip to the driver.

And as Uber deprives lowly paid drivers of basic working rights (as found and upheld in the high court) I’m not too worried about drivers looking to take advantage of the tipping match scheme.
