Mobile Whitebait.

I tried this for the first time in a restaurant on Sunday and found it very very fishy. I mean I know it's fish but I could still taste it after my pasta main meal. Is this normal or was it slightly off?

Sue, the fact that you are okay now would possibly mean that you make it to Christmas. I don't know if they were slightly off because I won't eat them as I want to save the planet.

This is a paragraph from the Guardian regards whitebait:

Whitebait are the fry (young) of herring and sprat. As with any fishery's future, sustainability relies on young fish being allowed to mature and reproduce to maintain the population. Taking juveniles before they have a chance to spawn undermines future sustainability.

Funnily enough I had some of this at an excellent Italian tapas in Liverpool last night.

If they are on the menu as a starter that's 'my go to' dish every time, as long as they have not been salted first.

We had whitebait as an extra when we ate at the Hand and Flowers, DH loved it but I found it quite strong tasting and didn’t like that I could see skin, fins and eyes! I like my fish as a skinless, boneless fillet... preferably with nice crispy batter...

Thanks everyone. I really wish I'd gone for the Calamari now.
