Riviera will add the new Tower studios for two people only. Looking at the maximum reallocation values only, until we get the full point charts, it seems that those studios might have a cost per night similar to the BWV standard studios.
It's hard to predict, but given the rest of the resort is such more cost intensive, I guess they'll be very popular and difficult to book for busy times. So a fixed week might make sense somehow for those.

When buying a fixed week, you buy 10% more points than what would be needed to book the same week on average over the 50 years of the contract at that time. So for example, if to book a room for a week it requires 100 points, you need to buy 110 points. In the past, also, buying a fixed week didn't qualify for incentives, so this increases the cost even more.
Every year, before the 11 months window opens, the owner will received a booking confirmation for that week. At any moment he can decide to cancel the reservation and get the full 110 points back. So if that period is not as busy and the reservation is still available at 11 months, the owner can just cancel and rebook it to keep the 10 points and use them in the future. Or cancel it and use the points for another period.
The fixed week is also an insurance against future reallocations: if the point charts are reallocated and the price of the week costs more, the owner would still get his week reservation every year.
If one plans to go often during the same week, a fixed week seems a good option, with the only drawback being the lack of incentives.

For CCV they sold also an "event fixed week". That was tied to RunDisney event like marathon event and it was guaranteed to be booked to include that week end. It was also better than a standrad fixed week, because the owner could choose the starting day of the week for the reservation, while fixed week start all on a Saturday (I think).

I've been assuming that we'll find out the full points charts tomorrow, or at least a lot more information given that that's when the welcome home sweepstake begins (welcomehomeriviera/ and welcomehomeriviera/Enter/en-us/rules). It's a pity I can't take part! To enter, participants have to watch a promotional video, so I'm assuming that will contain more information then we already have. Obviously this is all just a guess!

I have to admit that my original plan was always to buy a small amount at BCV then add on at Riviera. This was before all of the changes so I'm glad we ended up buying more than intended first time, I'm just not sure what my plan B is now! I keep hoping that the resale changes will be reversed, or that something will encourage me to buy there again! I'm obviously still in denial. :-)

I spoke to one of the DVC sales Guys in the MK yesterday and asked him when Riviera was going on sale.

He said he had no idea but his body language was giving another response. I reckon within a month.
