My son has kindly ordered me a Panasonic 4k player (820) for being the best dad he's ever had

I have had a LG oled for over a year now and love it the pictures are great, 4K discs are out of this world. We thing the quality is better than the cinema. You might find the sound a bit thin so you might need a sound bar.

My son has an lg oled tv and is very impressed with it (model 7 - newer ones are an 8).

I've ordered a sound bar, nothing fancy but no doubt better than the standard tv speakers (its the yamaha yas 207 - £249 richer sounds).

Most TVs are better quality pictures than you will get on a screen at a cinema. I have an older projector that I use on an 8' wide screen with a good 6 speaker sound system and that's good for watching action movies on.

I dislike going to the cinema because people can annoy me talking, rustling bags and little kids can be noisy.

We have an OLED too and love the picture on it, love the 4k stuff too – but to my mind the HDR on the older films is what makes it shine – you “see” so much more in the older films, sometimes too much

Have a UK and US iTunes account and buy movies sometimes from the US iTunes store and you can see that streaming is not as good as buying the disc, compression artefacts, banding and all that nasty stuff at times.

The 4k discs are great, the quality is superb and love them

Tv and 4k player came yesterday and we tested it with a 4k movie (Guardians of the galaxy 2) and we were all very impressed with the amount of detail that we hadn't noticed when we previously watched the film.

The sound out of the panasonic oled 802 is very poor, but my soundbar arrived today so that should improve things.
