Single day or short term hires?
I'm heading out to Orlando with the family in the summer and this time, because of the increase in car hire costs (quoted £650 this year!), we've decided not to hire a car.
When you balance up the days by the pool when the car won't be used, the parking charges at Universal and the fact our accomodation provides a free bus to and from the parks, we'll save the car hire money and put it towards Uber rides and cocktails at Margheritaville and Pat O'Briens. The only fly in the ointment is that I've discovered there's a rocket launch whilst we're there and I'd LOVE to see another one. Public transport doesn't seem possible from Orlando (near Disney) to Cape Canaveral and an Uber is estimated at $120ish each way. So, the only reasonable option seems to be to hire a car for a day or three in the middle of our holiday. Has anyone done this in the past and how easy was it to get a car delivered to your accomodation? Any suggestions/hints/tips etc, along with an idea of costs would be much appreciated. Thanks |

We've picked up cars twice mid-holiday, once from Disney Car Centre and the other from the Disney Dolphin Hotel. Relatively straight forward both times (although they didn't have the car 'type' we booked at the Dolphin - as they source from the Car Centre- and we had to change it the day after). You can get picked up from the parks if you give them advance notice.
We generally don't find them to be as in good condition/as new as compared to picking them up from MCO but generally do the job! There are lots of places of I-drive etc too depending where you're staying to collect from.

OP. I picked a random 3 days in mid August and an Alamo full size car is circa £130 for an Intermediate.
Of course as dates change etc that price can be well beaten or even be slightly higher.
