We've stayed in both. Loved the DVC room with the kitchenette.
Didn't feel as if we were in a different hotel just because we were in a separate building, as last time we had to walk over to our building from the main lobby anyway.
Only difference was where we checked in. This did take a touch of the grandeur away, although the villas lobby is still very nice.
At £150 a night as opposed to £350 a night DVC Villas at Grand Floridian will win every time!

We have rented DVC and are staying at the villas soon
Do they have their own check-in? Just trying to figure out where we go once we get there...

We stayed there last August and it was fabulous. There is a Nespresso Machine with free coffee in the DVC lobby and iced water.

I wasn’t sure where to check in and looking online it seemed to suggest going to the main lobby, which we did. It wasn’t a problem for them to check us in but it would have been better for us to check in at the DVC lobby as that’s where our magic bands were.

We actuallly preferred the DVC lobby, it felt more personal, probably because the lady we saw about our magic bands spoke to us every time she saw us.

The DVC property is beautiful.. I feel the only thing that makes you feel a bit different (which is not a bad thing) is the location. You have your separate entrance near the spa and its a tiny bit disconnected from the main building and other buildings. It is on the walk towards the Poly so you get a more quiet area if you have a lagoon view room.

I like both interiors (I got to see two kinds of room category at the DVC area) but I will go against the grain and say I prefer the hotel rooms as they are a bit more worn in and homey but the bathrooms at the Villas are SO MUCH NICER! You will enjoy thats for sure!
