We did 5 nights at Cabana Bay at the end of one of last few trips, was a nice change of pace from Disney with all the fastpasses/ADRs etc. I wouldn't consider paying for both hotels at the same time, unless money wasn't an object.

That is easy enough, you ask the hotel to book you a taxi. The taxi cost will be far cheaper than paying for two hotel rooms for a couple of nights.

We have chosen to do 7 nights at Disney followed by 9 nights at Universal this year as we also visit the Seaworld parks including Discovery Cove. As we will have DDP for the first week we will do all of the Seaworld parks during the second part of the holiday.

Last year though we did 14 nights at a Universal hotel as we only went to Disney twice. We paid to stay at a Disney Value for one night (so we essentially had two rooms booked at once) but that’s only because it was a last minute decision to stay onsite the night before AK to make use of the EMH for FOP.

It is cheaper to stay at HRH at the end of August rather than the middle you can find their off peak dates if you have a look on their stay longer save more offer

^ this. Magical Express is fine, but the cost of an uber honestly wouldn't factor into my decisions at all. We even got a taxi straight to and from MCO for quickness last year and it was about $40-50 each way as I recall.
