Thank you Bella1. I think we'll be watching the price and exchange rate to see if it ever sways in our favour. We'd only want to do it if it comfortably gave us what we need.
We're going to try and off-site stay next and see how much we really miss on site, and might also try renting DVc points as well.

We havent done it yet as just bought CCV last year, but our plan is best of both worlds. 1 week cash with free dining plan and 14 day ticket, and 2nd week DVC as we are usually stuffed by then from all the food! Makes sense in my head. Also there are constant rumours that free dining is going away.

I rationalise it that DVC is a bit like a mortgage - cheaper then rent initially but much of a muchness. The real savings come after 10 years when a gap will start to increase so worth booking savings in now. Ask anyone with DVC when the best tine to buy is. All will say 10 years before they bought!

We tried off site last trip and it was a completely different dynamic. Not bad just very different being outside the bubble. The space was great though.

Agree with that! Any property related purchase looks better in hindsight. It's the same when you buy a house and then look at what it's worth 10 years later. You'd think to yourself I would never have bought at these prices!

Watched a Vlogger on Yt last night, he came up on my recommended, I don't think he is a Disney Vlogger generally, some form of emergency Doctor. Anyway the post was about why he cancelled his DVC contract. First off he mentioned buying whilst in the bubble, & the whole euphoria around being on holiday. He had 5 children so need enough points for a week in a 2 bed & bought 400 points(CCV I think) everything great until he wanted to book something... no rooms at the inn ! He realised that actually having to book 11/7 months out was never going to work for him, plus he was paying $12000/annum & reckoned he could get much better value without DVC.
Obviously UK guests are slightly different as we generally book far in advance but it does highlight one of the issues.

We own at 2 resorts and have bought enough points to allow us a 2 week stay at the Poly one year, and the following year in a 2 bedroom at Copper Creek. We plan to alternate between resorts each year and if we want to go for longer we can either stay at a cheaper resort or downsize to a 1 bed or studio at Copper Creek.

Just for clarification, that's 130 points at the Poly & 275 at Copper Creek.
