88 Meals and Snacks and Counting... - Feb 2018 QSDP Food Report Live(ish)!

Hi all,

Seeing as I found reading the food trip reports on here so helpful in planning our trip, I thought I'd do a live(ish - we are already 3 days in) food report of our own!

We are 4 adults staying at Port Orleans Riverside on the quick dining plan. We haven't been to Disney World in over 20 years now so everything seems new to us again and we have a long list of things we want to see and do (and eat). We are here for 11 nights and as the title suggests, this equates to 88 meals and snacks! Also looking forward to trying the speciality drinks which are now included...

So off we go...

... and now we're back I thought I'd put an index

Day 1: Virgin Atlantic / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 2: Port Orleans Riverside / Epcot
Day 3: Animal Kingdom / Magic Kingdom / Monorail Hopping / Port Orleans French Quarter
Day 4: Kennedy Space Center / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 5: Universal Studios / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 6: Hollywood Studios / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 7: Animal Kingdom / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 8: Magic Kingdom
Day 9: Disney Springs / Port Orleans Riverside
Day 10: Port Orleans Riverside / Epcot
Day 11: Magic Kingdom / Take Home Snacks
Day 12: Port Orleans Riverside / Take Home Snacks / Virgin Atlantic

Day 1 - Arrival

We travelled Virgin Atlantic from Gatwick to MCO. Firstly the drinks were brought round (not all mine)..

With sour cream pretzels.
Next up was the in flight meal..
choices were..

We all went for the sausage and mash... it was alright for plane food. Came with garlic and herb Boursin, crackers, cous cous salad and a salted caramel choc gu pot. We also got a mini bottle of wine to go with it

Few hours later a mini fab lolly was brought round, followed by afternoon tea. This consisted of a sandwich, breadsticks and a choc nougat bar. Wasn't too bad..

On arrival to the hotel we picked up our refillable mugs and went to the Riverside Mill for dinner. We used 4 QS meal credits and swapped the drink for a snack.
We went for:
1 make your own pasta with chicken, linguine, onion, garlic, bacon, peas and alfredo sauce
1 swamp burger (with pulled pork) and chips
1 bayou burger (with braised prime rib) and chips
1 carving table choice of chicken with choice of sides - mash, sweetcorn and cornbread.
With swapping out drinks for desserts, we had
1 strawberry ice cream sundae
1 cookies and cream ice cream sundae
1 Apple cobbler and ice cream
1 magic cookie bar to take away

All was delicious and good value for a meal credit. We probably wouldn't get the carving table meal again though as there wasn't as much there as other options. The portion size felt huge so we will probably get 3 meals to share between 4 of us in future as we hate to waste food!

Quick Service credits remaining : 84
Snack credits remaining : 88

Ooh love a food report, good start thank you

It was our first time on the ddp for our last trip and we did the same as you, started out with a meal each
It was way too much for us so we started sharing at certain meals

Love the food court at POR, especially the create your own pasta and salad stations. I'm impressed that you all managed a full meal and dessert on travel day as we never find we can eat that much, so normally share 2 meals between the 4 of us.

I did a live qsdp report last April and really enjoyed sitting down each day to write it up. Look forward to reading along

Just for information. You can pick up your desserts up separately; saves your ice cream melting whilst you eat the first course
It all looks great. Thanks for taking the time to post

Do all resorts let you swap your drink to a snack credit? We're off to POFQ in August.
