Wedding Advice/Help

My son is getting married in Florida in December. I gather from here he can make the license application online via Brevard County Court and he will then then need to get the paperwork notarised here, (who would do that?) and then hopefully who ever marries him in Orlando will send off the paperwork and his licence will be posted back. His wife to be is Irish, does this have any implications of the marriage being recognised in the UK?

Is it that simple or am I'm missing anything ? TIA

He can get it done in advance by post and go to a solicitor her to get their declarations notorized (we were quoted between £50 to £100) or can simply go to the courthouse before the wedding with their passports (and $86) and get the licence ... takes about 15 minutes.

We looked at the by post route and decided as it can be done at any courthouse in Florida it wasn't worth the messing about and extra cost and will get it once there.

No implications to holding an Irish passport ... all the best people do ! (I may be biased as I can have either )

Thanks we were trying to avoid any extra visits into Downtown Orlando and thought we would sort it before we go. Im guessing that's the closet?

Depends where you are staying which is closest.
Have you googled "Florida marriage licence" for the list of courthouses ?
Both the bride and groom need to attend to get the licence btw

The site is down for maintainance today and payments can't be made if you used this route orlandotouristinformationbur...in-orlando.htm

It seems really complicated by post compared to in person.
We have a night in Fort Lauderdale before getting to Orlando , as the Courthouse is a short drive or Uber away we shall use that one. Seems simplest.

Thanks for the link.

What courthouse did you use?

So, you turned up with your passports paid for the licence then got married, you then returned to the same place for the certificate?

Whats this book thing they asked you to read? Thanks again.

Might be easier in person as I cant find an online link.

Looks like it might be easier to make a trip to Kissimmee Court although useful info on there is sparse.

We're using Fort Lauderdale even though we are getting married close to Orlando.
Our wedding chapel will do all the running around for us so it may be worth talking to your venue 's wedding coordinator. It was only $100 extra and if we were going straight to Orlando we'd have considered going that route .
