Booking onboard and using a US agent?

If we book onboard is there any benefit to linking the booking to an agent?

I’m sure I’ve read about people doing this but I don’t know why and can’t seem to find it now.

Thanks

Yes this is what we do, purely for the additional on board credit the TA gives. Just make sure you pay your deposit in US dollars as if you pay it in pounds they are unable to transfer the booking to a US agent

Thanks. What would I need to do to link them? Do I need to inform the TA first?

You just need your TAs details so if you contact them in advance they can provide you the info - company name and agents name.

Also if you don't have their details in advance, the booking can be transferred up to 30 days after it was made. Our TA just sent us a form to complete authorising her to take over the booking.
