Was the booth not a desk ?

I simply told the OP they can not do online checkin they can not skip the line.

You have to go to the desk just as you did.

My first time at Avis Miami I went to the desk in the main hall and no way did I wait hours, I walked straight up and was done in 5 minuites so not sure where hours come in to the wait, if you did not go there how do you know the wait time ?

I am well aware you can with Alamo the OP is asking about Avis and unless it has changed your first rental even if you are preffered member you name and car allocation is not on the board and you ahve to go to some kind of desk be it in the main hall or the manned desk in the booth in the garage to be allocated a car

The point is that even first time you can go to the booth (or desk) in the garage. Unlike the main desks in the airport these do not seem to be on a bonus scheme for upselling you and so you get no hard sell just someone trying to give you the car you ordered. Makes life a lot easier after a long flight.
