I am glad some one mentioned this,
And as already mentioned late bookings tend to get higher rates, my car cost £300 Ford Edge or what ever for 15 days I booked ages ago and got a good price.
I had to monitor the prices on a daily bases as they were all over the place up down and there was even stupid crazy high rates way back when I booked.

Supply and demand as any rental car seller will tell you if you ask about price fluctuation.

we are paying almost 700 for 22 nights and booked in Sept for this June. If I was you I would only hire for a week from Disney and return and use Uber or Lyft for Universal. Straightaway with hire and parking that's almost 350 quid for those nights. cant see you spending this on a few ubers

I am really tempted Rav ( £214 with virgin ) for a week then drop it off at breun vista which isn't far from PO as we normally stay at SSR.

Using your dates with VH
All Alamo

Mitsubishi Mirage £520
Nissan Versa £571
Hyundai Electra £623
RAV4 £643
So these are looking a bit better. The Versa would be closest to the Fiesta

Supply & demand, Currency fluctuation, Inflation.
I bought a loaf 20 years ago for 20p
Things get more expensive, they don't often go down.

Book early with a good company who offer free amendments and cancellations and keep an eye on prices.

Also July/August have been hit with High Season premiums since last year.

Unfortunately car hire companies have also introduced a peak hire period charge that massively increases the price during the summer months and you and I are right in it. As others may have mentioned have a look at booking with Andy at discount Florida car hire and keep checking the prices. If they suddenly drop for any reason, get in touch with him and he’ll rebook you and refund the excess.

One thing we haven't done is a book a car and to be honest looking around at the prices i'm shocked how much it is for 3 weeks now . Last time we went was in 2015 for 3 weeks and i paid just over £400 for car hire it's now coming in at £600 i could insure my van , sports car and my wife's car for this at home shocked how much it seems to be !
I'm not sure what the price of car insurance in the UK has got to do with car rental in the US? It's a bit like comparing the bus into town with the price of the flight!

Anyway, I'd be thrilled with £600. We need a minibus thing for our 2 weeks end July / early Aug and I was thinking it'd be £600 or so. Nope - it's near as dammit £1000.
