Help with Port Aventura and Salou
Hi
Following on from another thread i have running can anyone help me with a holiday to Salou to visit Port Aventura please? We’ve just returned from Florida and it cost us £8000 in total so we’re looking for a theme park/ water park/ pool and beach type holiday but I haven’t a clue where to start, that doesn’t cost that sort of money! Ive only ever planned holidays to Florida for the past 14 years so know nothing else! We are 3 families all with small children and looking for 10 days next summer. Thanks x Edited at 08:00 AM. |

We have stayed there a few times now. If you are booking flights separate try and fly into reus rather than Barcelona as it’s closer. I know jet2 and Ryanair fly into these airports. We have stayed at the dorado palace and the caribe and they are both lovely hotels. You can book through most travel agents. We booked with Thomas cook and tui but jet2 holidays seem to be the cheapest.
When staying onsite tickets are included for portaventura . When we stayed at the dorado palace I bought tickets from attraction tickets direct it cost us £200 for 4 two week passes lol, not as cheap now though. We also enjoyed the waterpark attached to portaventura. Just talking about makes me want to go back lol. Edited at 10:03 AM. |

We’ve been 3 times & are going back next May, booked with Jet2holidays same as last time, they often have some good package prices, we’re staying at the H10 Mediterranean village again which is in cap Salou, we paid just over £1700 for 3 of us for 10 nights half board which includes May half term, it’s a great hotel, brilliant for families, there were lots of other nice hotels for a fair bit less but we wanted that hotel, we stayed in the dorada palace last time which is nice, there are some lovely hotels around, Reus airport is only a short journey into the salou area too

I can recommend sol costa dorada. Does free mini bus run to portaventura but only ten min walk. We have stayed there loads of times. They also do mini bus to beach approx fifteen mins walk. We have bought tickets from attraction tickets direct. Taxi from reus not very exp. As well as other airlines mentioned you could look at tui and thomas cook flight only or package. Love salou.

Definately recommend this hotel, cap Salou is lovely, not much there a few nice bars and shops and the beach is easy to get too but the hotel is fab, pools great for the kids and they have a great animation team keeping kids occupied and having fun. Salou one way la pineda the other and very easy to get too, reus airport a lot easier than Barcelona, portaventura easy to get too

We are going next month for our sixth visit in October.
If you can be flexible with dates you can get some good prices to Reus with Ryan Air which is 10/15 minute transfer, Barcelona is about an hour and the bus plana have a regular service to and from there. The bus plana is great if you don’t drive, you get a card from the kiosks and top up journeys. You can travel to Portaventura and local places. We stay at the Calypso hotel, never had a bad time there. It has mixed reviews, but we have always had great service and entertainment. This year we are staying in a recently refurbished room so will be nice to see what that’s like. |

I would recommend the Sol Costa Dorada too, we have stayed there a few times now absolutely love it. Staff are wonderful, hotel is spotlessly clean, good variety food wise and the night time entertainment is always a hoot It’s also within walking distance to Port Aventura, Ferrari Land and the Caribe Water Park. Salou has other things to offer other than Port Aventura, the beaches are lovely, we prefer the beach at La Pineda as it’s quieter but Llevant is walkable distance, expansive and has something for everyone. Tarragona is worth a visit, there is a land train tour, Roman amphitheater and I can never get enough of the spectacular views from the Balcó del Mediterrani. Reus isn’t just for landing in either, it is worth exploring in its own right- if you’re a fan of Antoni Gaudi, the Gaudi Centre and museum is fascinating. Barcelona also isn’t far, you can do a day trip with the Bus Plana excursions or via train from Salou but I personally don’t think a day trip is enough to do Barcelona justice, so would recommend doing Barcelona separately for at least 2 days as there is so much to see and do. Finally, we really enjoyed our trip to Montserrat with Bus Plana. One tip, if you’re not driving, we found buying the Bus Plana T10 travel cards worked really well for us, it’s about €10 and is basically like 10 carnet tickets. We usually get 2 sets and it covers all our travel needs for the four of us for the whole week. Very handy as we take Bus Plana everywhere whilst there. Edited at 08:06 PM. |

Stayed in La Pineda literally right next to the beach and a water park. We booked through TUI and the waterpark was included (we had wristbands for the week) we got a bus to portaventura theme park from outside the hotel and there was a promotion on if you bought 2 bags of Haribo it was buy one get one free on park day passes.
