Don’t forget to look on Groupon - we’ve picked up cheaper tickets for shows there in the past.

Also have a look at the myVEGAS app - it’s a free (well 4 now) games that you play to win gold coins. The gold coins can be exchanged for rewards that can be spent on food, drinks, shows etc.

Fellow North Easterner here, we going on our 4th trip to Vegas soon, always flown direct from Manchester with Thomas Cook, but this time flying ba, NCL-lhr-Vegas, same price as direct from Manchester but without the awful drive home after the return flight(it is a killer). We going for 10 nights and staying 8 nights off strip(tuscany suites) and two nights in the cosmo(in a balcony suite) and it's cost £1900 for the two of us. Worth booking flights in the sale and hotels on free cancellation so you can cancel and re-book if the price comes down. Look out for offers and bargains too for hotels. We prefer to be centre strip. Read trip reports to give you ideas and trip advisor for genuine room pics and reviews. Happy planning.

I would suggest a week personally and usually the price doesn't change or sometimes even gets cheaper... we're planning our 4th visit and we've still not covered everything we want to see and do there.

I would suggest mid strip - would stay at luxor if it was a big price difference but you'd be better with Flamingo, Ballys, Harrahs, Linq for budget that are more mid strip xx

We went in-store to Thomas Cook and they had loads more than their website. Same with Virgin. Find the flight that suits you best.

We going from Manchester in April and staying at the Cosmopolitan for 4 nights with breakfast and VRoom for £1000 each.

They were offering cheaper hotels at around £700 each but we wanted this hotel.

I'm not a fan of Vegas and think 4 nights is more than enough.

I'm not sure if it's still available, but with BA holidays right now if you can go June 10thish you can get the Wynn for a week, direct flights with BA holidays for 748 each. Absolute bargain!

Thanks for this info, I have just checked as June 10th is when we can travel. I am now considering a week in Vegas and exploring the Grand Canyon/hoover dam etc from there as BA is coming in very cheap in comparison to a DIY road trip -an excuse to return another year to do San Francisco.

June 10th for a week is £372 each for 2 adults and 1 child, but I have read to avoid so the mirage is £550 each, assuming this is quite a good price inc flights?

Ok so I have done the exact trip you describe so I will tell you what I thought!

June 2015, Luxor 4 nights flying from Manchester.

Flew with Virgin - nice flight, good entertainment, early morning flight etc. No complaints!

Weather - It was around 43C and dry heat. Now usually I am not great in heat but because it wasn't particularly humid I didn't find it too hard. It was impossible to stay stood out on the strip for long periods of time, but of course you wouldn't normally do that anyway as you're in and out of all the hotels/casinos etc. All of which are well air conditioned, so you don't notice the heat at all once you're inside.

Luxor - lovely hotel! Have stayed here twice now and would definitely recommend it. It's a little bit further South down the strip rather than central, but this didn't bother us at all. At the end of the day you will be up and down the strip wherever you stay, so not an issue. Found it to be the most reasonably priced of all the themed hotels on the strip. Rooms are nice and clean, casino is great and the other hotels nearby are easily accessible via walkways etc.

4 Nights - Personally, I found that 4 nights in Vegas was enough. The issue is more the travelling. It takes me a couple of days to get over the travelling/adjusting to time zones so it was tough for me. While I feel like I'd seen most of what I wanted to over the 4 days, it maybe would have been nice to have a few extra days for a bit more down time. I have been back since and found I enjoyed it more as I relaxed a bit more having already done a lot of the 'must-dos'.

So, to summarise: June weather, fine for me. Luxor, also fine (better than fine!). 4 days fine if you are good at adjusting to travelling, otherwise give yourself an extra day or two.

That's a fab price especially as that offer chucks in two free buffets per stay too! DS10 will still in school otherwise I would have booked straight away! It's SATS for him and although they would have finished according to the Gov website, I keep thinking what ifs lol. But that is a fantastic price with direct flights to boot! If i do go for it, I'll do 4 nights signature and 3 nights Mirage. We like the signature and it also means we get two lots of free buffets lol.

We are lucky that DD10 doesn’t get ‘whitsun week’ at end of May off but gets 2 weeks in June and SATs will be over by end of May... so so tempted, was thinking if road trip from SAN Fran but that quadruples the price with hotel costs... might look into that split stay, thanks!

That's fantastic! I hope it can work for you. If you do a split stay yeah, look for two properties doing the buffet deal. I am so so tempted myself. The price is just ridiculously low. If he had two weeks in June I'd be all over it Not that I'm not still thinking about it lol.
