Thoughts on itinerary and possible flight prices

Can’t help with the first bit, only SFO onwards.

In SFO,we would reccomend a day at Alcatraz book it at 90 days and be quick.
Dylan’s famous cycle tour that takes in a cycle over the Golden Gate into Sausalito and then a minibus trip to Muir Woods before a lift back into SFO. (you dump the bikes in Sausalito).

Monterey, I would try for another day. The Whale watching was awesome.

I would look at a night at the Madonna Inn at San luis Obispo whilst travelling from Monterey to LA. We were rather underwhealmed with Pismo beach.

I would cut a day at Disney to gain the day in Monterey.
Whilst in the LA area, I would consider the Reagan Library, 6 flags if you are into rides and also a night on the Queen Mary.

For a tour of Hollywood and all that stuff, I would look at a tour from Santa Monica on your last day. It places you just 7 miles from LAX and comes with free parking right next to the pier.
