I had one system and then just put a UK wide alert on gumtree for another - £35! I paid for my courier to collect.

The newer model is the Logitech Z900 - I want this - can get for £150-200, keeping an eye for someone selling at £100 and I'll snap it up.

Over time I bought inwall speakers and the effect is fab - proper home cinema

I like the sound better than I like the picture.

Alternative is a soundbar with a sub - but cant beat 5.1 (or 7.1) if you have the right room.

Very nice, can't see the optical port, admittedly I've had my letter from Specsavers advising my eye test is due.

These ones that include a DVD, I guess the optical cable goes from the DVD to the Q box?

yeah the slim dvd ones are all good too.

or if you have an optical out on your tv you just HDMI sky box, game console and then just 1 optical cable required from tv to sound box.

Optical to RCA. Then all you need is an RCA to 3.5mm lead to plug into the old 2.1 system.

Thank you this is what I originally thought, I'd need to also buy an optical cable?

Although Papamouse is now tempting me with 5:1 systems, I'm not decisive at the best of times.

I'm bidding on a nice looking Sony 5.1 for our main tv, I'd never have thought of getting a used one so thank you. I've also bought cables and the optical to RCA box (for the second tv) as Smax suggested. Thanks for all your help. Next up is a camera question
