We went with jet2 on a package so dont know what it would have been or night but our package was cheap enough

not been in 10 years, but the winston on warmoestraat (10 mins slow walk from centraal station) was my regular haunt. they have everything from double ensuites to 8 bed dorm rooms...

I'd recommend both the Alexander and the Prinsen. They're very close to each other on the Vondelstraat, about 5 minutes walk from the Leidseplein and close the the bus stop to/from the airport. Comfortable with good breakfast and parrots in the gardens!

Have recently booked hotel 2 stay for 3 nights in January. Was £198 based on 2 people sharing. It's got really good reviews and a few people from my work have stayed there and said location etc was fantastic. It's around 10 minutes from airport and 10 minutes from centre however transport directly from outside hotel takes you to the main places.

My ds (21) and gf are just recently back from Amsterdam, they stayed in the Ibis Centre Stopera, said it was great location as everything was a 10 mins walk away, close to nightlife but far enough away to not be bothered by it

Amsterdam is easy to get round. We stayed in Misc Eatdrinksleep which is a traditional Dutch house (ie steep and narrow stairs). It only has 6 rooms. Each is themed - we were in one with an Arabian Nights theme. Stunning room, you have a fridge with free water and snacks as well as tea and coffee.

The hosts are so lovely. They gave us a tasting evening of jenever (local gin).

Breakfast is all artisan products bought locally.

Not cheap but so much nicer than a chain hotel.

That said, we have stayed in many an Ibis and they are fine.
