Opting out of mouse-cleaning?

Can someone give me the low down about the whole opting out of room service?

Im going for a week and its only me so there won't be a need for mouse cleaning as I won't hardly be in my resort.

Do I tell them at check in? Whats the gift card value? And what if I need to get extra toilet rolls, empty my bin or get more bathroom towels?

Yes, tell them at check in, they email you a gift card, with bar code on - we used when we check out to pay bill (our meal tips mostly!). I think it's $10 dollars a night.

You call them and they bring anything you want, or can mention when you go through lobby or grab stuff off a trolley! You can leave bin bag / towels outside room. They collect on rounds.

Thank you! When you say clean big bags outside, do you mean I have to supply my own bin liners like we get here in the UK? Because when I stayed on site in March this year, the bins didnt have bags in, it was just a normal bin haha.

It's likely I will be eating food in my room most mornings (snacks from Walmart to save using up QS credits), and would hate to have an over flowing bin in the way all the time.

I am sure the bins had bin liners! If not - use your Walmart shopping bags (we did that as 3 of us in a room).

I called housekeeping and they came and emptied the bin and replaced the towels.

I had in my head that opting out of mousekeeping meant the whole lot. My mind is at rest now that I can still get the basics done. (I had visions of having to take my own packet of Waitrose toilet rolls over there LOL)

We opted out last year. Bins were still emptied (daily check still took place). Can ask for extra towels/bed linen as needed. If you needed a full turn-down (unlikely) that can be arranged and is only $10. The cleaners are always kicking about so you can ask for items as needed or ring down to reception and they'll sort you out.

For 1 week you would get 6 nights back onto an e-gift card (sent to your email) and they just scan the barcode or type in the number when you want to spend it.

Coz it's more like £100 over 2 week stay.

OP is a oslo traveller too, only staying 1 week, are they going to need daily cleaning? i.e. in POR would only be using 1 bed, 1 sink! I'd take £60-£70 for sake of tidying up after myself.

I'm glad people agree! I am hardly going to make an incredible amount of dirt in 7 days by myself when I'm only sleeping there. I'm a very clean and tidy person anyway so its likely the room will look unslept in apart from the bed sheets being creased ha ha.

Bring on the $60 so I can treat myself!
