I was in bed and my husband came in from nights and told me.
It was sad as I had always been a fan when most girls my age were into David Cassidy and Donny Osmond.
I also went to the Dakota buildings and thought what a waste...the memorial garden in Central park is well worth a visit if you ever go...if only to reflect that all this time on what he sang about does not seem to be getting any better sadly.
I am like Tom..I dont think he was a hero...but his heart was in the right place.

I wasn't born when he died, but we are huge fans. Our little boys middle name is Lennon ❤ RIP John

I was at work and a colleague’s DH called to tell her. Several of us had “grown up” with the Beatles music and we were shocked at the news.

My dad died nearly 24 years ago and also a huge John Lennon fan. We had Imagine playing at the start of his funeral and even now I struggle to listen to it without welling up. I went to Central Park last year and visited Dakota building and the Strawberry Fields garden and like you found it very emotional
