Poncho or Raincoat?

Just wondering which do you think is better?
Was thinking of bringing a pac a Mac type coat rather than a plastic poncho.
We’re from Ireland so used to rain, going in June.
Any advice welcome.

I prefer a poncho. Small and can screw it up into a bag. It’s also part of the holiday for us.

Neither, 9 times outta 10 its only a heavy shower and dries up in miniutes.
Tbh i find both sweaty, and in that humidity you dont need more sweat 🤣😂🤣.
We have taken waterproof breathable jackets that fold down to bumbag/fannypack size, but have never used them and we have gone since 2006 most years and have taken them and left them in the car, always said emergency use but never had that much of an emergency 👍

Ive tried the really thin reusable ones which were ok but not very eco friendly.

Last time we went I got a very thin pac a mac that folded away into its own small bag which took up hardly any room in my rucksack, this worked really well but now has a second life as my pizza oven cover in the garden Think I got it online from Millets and it only cost about £8 in a sale.

For my next trip Im going to get a universal poncho, my brother in law got one a couple of trips back and as the next time will be the 3rd time you could say they have got their moneys worth out of them.

Definitely a poncho for us, I always carry a backpack round the park anyway so the poncho,s are kept in there. We bought ours from decathlon and cost around £7.

I like a poncho as you can just throw them on over everything, including your bag. I agree with previous poster about Universal ponchos. They’re longer than Disney ones for one thing and have lasted longer.

I've always been more of a poncho person. Used to use the disposable one use type but one time got caught out in rain at MK without one, so bought a Disney poncho (I still remember it was at the Pooh Bear shop). Which turned out to be really durable and lasted a few trips I think so well worth the money in the end!

Neither , too hot and sweaty . My Irish genes mean I won’t melt in the rain and I dry out quickly. Never wear trainers though as they take forever to dry in Florida Decent walking sandals work better for us.
