Some good advice on here.

It's always hard to answer generically as we all have different tastes and budgets. Some people are happy enough taking their own lunch into the parks for example and others treat their holiday like the last days of Rome.

Are you happy with burgers or equivalent as a meal each day? Those cost $15-20 each with a soda in the parks. How about an ice cream and a water during the day that's another $8 and you'll probably want more than one drink in the heat so call it $12

We normally have one big meal, one small meal and snack during a day. Breakfast is $12-20 for something like a full English plus juice and coffee (outside the parks). If we skip Breakfast we probably grab a coffee and a muffin for $8.

Let's assume the burger is lunch then every other day we'd have a sit down dinner - maybe 2 out of three days and I would budget $35 for an adult for 2 courses. 1 drink and tip.

A light dinner might be a shared pizza and a desert plus a beer and a wine so maybe $40-50 shared.

How much booze cause 3x beers with dinner will be another $20+

So with these figures here are 3 days

BF $15pp
Drinks snacks $12pp
Lunch $15pp
Light Dinner $50 for 4
4 people = $218

BF Light $8
Drinks snacks $12
Lunch $15
Dinner $35x2 Beer/wine $24 kids $15x2
4 people = $264

If there's no booze it's clearly less, if you have young children it's clearly less, fill a water bottle from a fountain = save money, etc, etc.

We did the QSDP in 2019 2 adults and 2 almost teens. We shared every meal bar 1 think. And snacks we were likely to share. With the August heat we just wanted ice water (free at any QS counter) and small amounts of food.
Going without the ddp does concern me (when I eventually book) but I think with a little bit of planning it should be easy.
Oh and we didn't eat burgers either, hot dogs from caseys once but there are sooo many other options available!

I just moved our August booking this year to next and the CM was pretty adamant that there will be no Free DDP for 2022.
I do hope they are wrong but her words were when I asked if I could add it if it became available 'oh you don't have to worry about that as there will be no free dining in 2022'
We would probably pay for it (if available) as I know then that part of the holiday is all taken care of.
Still keeping everything crossed we may get it!

That doesn't surprise me. Basically, if Disney feel they need to offer it to get people in, they will do. But if you look at all the people who have postponed their 2020 and 2021 trips, and all those who have planned to visit in 2022 as it's during the 50th anniversary 'year' - I don't think Disney will have any problem attracting guests.

We have paid for it before and would do again. We do lots of Signature meals and like to know that everything is covered.

Thank you for all your replies. So we still have CBR booked for now as it can be cancelled until beginning of June when the balance needs paying. I have booked a condo at Vista Cay (can be cancelled for free until July) though as it will mean we can cook meals etc to bring the cost down. I hate how up in the air everything is but just hoping we can go.

This is the one of the reasons we booked a 1 bed villa at AKL. We were planning to get the dining plan but without it we know we'd be too stressed with the disney prices. We wanted to pay for it and forget about it while on holiday.

We know that even though we were going to pay for DDP and the savings are not that groundbreaking. Without it we are going to get to that counter and see the prices and worrying about what we are spending.

So we got the full kitchen and get groceries and use doordash

That's strange as no-one knows yet.

I'm hoping it comes back but I don't expect it. (I actually never did for the Anniversary)
The trouble Disney have is that a LOT of people will still go to Disney of course, but they won't necessarily stay on site without the added benefits. (hence them offering it in the first place) Everyone knows it's much cheaper to stay off-site..

Im still crossing everything 😂
We would pay for the dining too if available to purchase.
