On Facebook yesterday someone said the first Appointment in London is 20 days, Dublin is 31 apparently. He would need to apply for his ACRO from the police, book an appointment and attend the interview. If it's approved on the day it takes about 2 weeks to get the passport back so in theory it's possible. If it's sent to Homeland Security for a waiver, they are taking about 40 weeks at the moment. That is crazy! Family friend waited around the 23 weeks mark back in 2011 and 2015 - the biggest frustration with that waiver is zero visibility of progress or any ETA expect others sharing their experience.

When we were waiting for the wavier for the family friend (we helped them with the application etc and booking the interview etc) we followed the British expats forum as they have an extensive thread with people regularly reporting back their own experience. Someone posted last week that based on an interview date of 16th December they have just got theirs back so 25 weeks... but of course if you go for an interview not it could well be 40 weeks if that is what is getting reported

kingsontour - did he have ESTA approved or denied? Will he attempt to acquire visa if ESTA was denied?
