October 2018 flight purchase strategy
Hi all,
Thanks for the helpful thread. Booked yesterday for POR riverside between 18th-27th October 2018. Got a great deal on DDP and my children who will be 5 and turning 8 when we are there are really excited. It's our first time as a family but I went as a child. I'm very excited too. Aware that I will need to book flights when they come available- what's the best strategy for cheapest price. Should I go with a broker- and book on 18th November? But what will happen on way back, will they be available then? Or direct from airline? We want to be direct from any London airport. I'm also wondering about flight times - an 11 am flight would be best on way out as it would mean we could get to hotel, eat and just go to bed although it would be very late for kids. On way back wondering whether over night would be better. Experienced travellers with children this age please advise! Thanks |

I need flights for the 19th-26th. Have been gathering prices but at the moment they are too high. As of October I will be looking everyday and have alerts set up with Kayak Skyscanner etc. X

In general terms, your flights will be released 11 months before your return date. BA usually release theirs a couple of weeks before Virgin. Thomas Cook flights will already be out.
You can only get night flights back home. I think there's only one or two indirect flights you could get via New York that fly East during the day.

I've already booked for next October, just into half term for 2 weeks, booked a flydrive with virgin Holidays plus the v room for £550 each, we won't take the "free" car though
