The first time we visited, we stayed offsite and didn’t even know about the fastpass system. Halfway during the trip, I was so excited to find out about it and started booking fast passes during breakfast on the same day and got on the majority of the rides we wanted. We have subsequently stayed on site, but I think I had more fun booking the fast passes on the first trip.

Can see it being a future change.
Totally disagree with this. I like to visit multiple times. Why should I be restricted to my favourite ride once in 2 weeks/a week? I’m happy with the FP system the way it is. All onsite guests get the same chance for FP, offsite can try on the day.

So OP do you also think it’s unfair that guests at Universal deluxe hotels get FOLP and everyone else has to queue?

I’ve forked out a lot of money to stay onsite for 3 weeks this year. I chose to stay onsite to get the 60 day FP access. If you want that then stay at a Disney hotel. And yes I have 5 FOP fastpasses, 3 slinky dog and 3 SDMT. Because I, as an onsite guest paid for that privilege. They can’t “hold back” fastpasses unless they change the whole booking process. And you can still ride the rides- get there early and rope drop. Coming into a forum with the “it’s not fair” tantrum ain’t doing yourself any favours.

Disney and Universal are corporate money making businesses. Their objective is to make as much money as possible for their shareholders. They are not charities there to “make things fair”.

Sorry to be so blunt but that’s my opinion.

Previously off site. Two young children, one with additional needs in a hotel room would be hell for us and other guests! In addition we could not afford it. We did nt get everything we wanted. Yes it was very frustrating to miss out on rides but you just have to suck it up. We can use das for the children rides just not adult/bigger/perceived scary rides. No way my daughter (das) would ride them. She would nt even stand near slinky incase it fell on her! I would have loved to have ridden these ‘bigger’ rides but can’t really leave dh too long with the children to queue. It’s a bit of a two man job when ones a runner!
Next year we are braving five nights on site. Booked a cheaper, smaller villa for the remainder. Used saving to go towards onsite and we got free ddp- so excited to stuff my face! I’m really hoping it’s a success for us and we reap the benefits. I just want one fop, 7dmt, Everest, the ‘mountains’ in our three week stay. There’s only so many times I can ride dumbo 🙈😂

Whilst I have been reading thru this as a test I have also been checking FP's for Slinky for when we are there (not that either of us want it) I was offered 2 times for 1 day & 1 for another day! So the answer is to put in the time, effort & try at obscure times of the day/night if your that desperate for what you want - availability is there if you put the effort in to keep looking instead of moaning about nothing being available!

Agree. We love FOP and have 4 fps for our trip next month. I'd have had more!

Not everyone can afford to stay onsite due to the overpriced hotels. We all pay the same price for our Disney tickets so the benefits of the park should be fairer. The old system didn’t care wether you were onsite or off. The sad thing is there are people staying onsite who will book fastpasses regardless of them visiting a park that day. It’s the can have must have attitude of the modern human.

Yes, this works really well unless every park has early morning hours for every day of your stay!

So, you’d rather Disney switched to the Universal tactic? Stay onsite or pay?

To me, this is a completely pointless, illogical argument and I can’t believe it’s still going

I do think that no matter if your on site or off they should have some kind penalty for not turning up for a fast pass.

Such as if you don’t show up for a fast pass the rest of the passes for that day and the next should be cancelled.
