Bottle feeding baby in the parks... formula question

We are planning to take what will be our 14 week old daughter in January. She is bottle fed and we currently use a mix of Aptamil cartons when out and about and the Tommee Tippee perfect prep machine with Aptamil powder when at home.

What would we take with us for feeds in the parks? I don't think my luggage allowance would allow for enough cartons to last us 12 days.

I guess the powered formula, but how do I make up the bottles? I guess not in advance as they wouldn't stay cool enough, or would they if I had a cool bag?

I'm confused!

Notsure if things have changed reciently as my youngest DD is 6 now but you used to be able to buy a tub with a few seperate compartments in where each compartment you’d put the required amount of powdered scoops in then I would take sterilised bottles with cold boiled water in & add the powder when the feed is needed & heat in the “babycare” centres in the parks.

The baby care centres are usually really well equipped for all baby needs from changing tables, warming milk & food to even selling child’s medicine.

I done this when mine were little, take the bottle with the boiled water in, heat then add the powder. You can buy a little bag/lunch bag for the bottles and the compartment container for the powder.

As PP said the baby centres are great.

Thank you both, I have lots of the little formula containers as they came with the bottles we first bought. Seems easy enough, I just need to make sure I know where those baby centres are when she is ready for food as she can get pretty impatient

They're all marked on the maps. MK is behind Crystal Palace, HS is inside Guest Services, Epcot is between Test Track and Mexico (off to the side over a bridge bit), and AK is next to Pizzafari.

We adopted my oldest at birth in Texas. We had a baptism by fire trying to heat bottles in the car with a plug in heater that didn't work with the bottles we had. We very quickly learned that she didn't mind cold milk at all. I never heated her bottles when we were out after that and she never cared. It might be worth a try as there is only one Baby Care Centre per park and it could be quite a walk with a hungry baby.

Our daughter doesn't mind cold milk wither, my worry is that the milk would spoil in the Florida heat if I made them up in advance.

I don't think I can make up cold bottles though can I, doesn't the water need to be boiling to sterilise the formula?

When It had my eldest (now12) the advice was it's ok to add formula to cooled bottles. By the time I had my 2nd you were supposed to ad it to boiling water.
Personally I would rather add it to cooled water than try and keep ready made bottles cool in the heat.

Same here. I put boiled water in the bottles and let them cool then added the powder as needed. I know the Perfect Prep machines add a shot of hot water to sterilize the powder but it isn't practical to try and do that when you are out. OP, if it makes you feel better US mums aren't even told they have to sterilize the bottles, they go straight in the dishwasher.

This is correct. The advice is to take a thermos flask and fill with freshly boiled water. You need the heat from the water to kill any bacteria that’s in the formula powder.
