Mine have handles too. I would always be getting locked out if I didn’t 😄

Our delivery drivers and postman will always try the front door if I don’t get to the door on time. They do the same with most people on the street as a majority of the houses have porches. I wouldn’t report him, he’s probably just trying to get all the deliveries done in the allotted time frame.

Would you just let it go or would you contact Amazon and complain? I know delivery drivers are under huge pressure and I wouldn't want to cause someone to lose their job, but I do wonder what would have happened if I had not been there. DH is working from home, and if training does not answer the door and would not notice someone in the hall.
Please cut him a break this time Sam, I agree with others that he was likely going to put your delivery inside the door, and if you had a car outside or signs of occupancy he was likely trying to fast deliver and away.

We too keep our doors locked at all times, we feel safer in doing so.

Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, the Amazon delivery guy had already rung the bell and I was on my way to the door, when the door opened and he popped the parcel just inside the door.

I always try to keep the door locked, but I obviously hadn't that day. I recently heard a lady Amazon driver try our door handle, after ringing the bell, but the door was locked.

I wouldn't bother reporting them because I feel that they are just trying to deliver your parcels and avoid leaving them on your doorstep.

If you don't want it to happen again, keep the door locked and when ordering from Amazon next time ensure you leave specific instructions on where to leave your items in future.
You can’t possibly know this.
I’m amazed at how many people think it’s perfectly ok for a stranger to open their door.

I had exactly the same with Amazon and on one occasion he came right in & left the parcel on my sofa! It only happened with Amazon drivers not DPD or Hermes. I had to take to locking my front door to stop it happening.

I fed back to Amazon as not only did I feel unsafe but we also had a dog and if he didn’t shut the door properly then he would get out.

I cannot believe how many people have front doors that allow you to enter the house by pushing down the handle only.

Dangerous in the extreme and for everybody on here who says it has happened to them I would say that today it may be a delivery Guy, tomorrow it could be a creeper burglar and your stuff will be stolen.

Finally be careful regarding house Insurance. Most companies ask you to tick that you have a 5 lever mortice deadlock on the main entry door. The type with a handle entry is not that type.

I find this thread really sad. You can’t even leave your doors unlocked during the day now. I know I live in a wee bubble where things are a bit different as you can only get off the island twice a day, so we are safe, but I didn’t lock my doors when I lived on the mainland all those years ago. Think I’ll stay in my bubble 😢
Best not mention the car keys get left in the cars up here 😆

I would use this as a lesson for ME to lock my door, The amazon guy probably thought as YOU had left it unlocked (which blows my mind) he was doing you a favour and putting it in the house for you.

I agree, he probably thought he was doing you a favour. Our postie/delivery drivers often open our front door and leave parcels in the porch. I would hate to think someone could be reprimanded or sacked over this. I assume you told him at the time it was unacceptable to you?
