BA Club World

Hi,

Dates for our flights are released tomorrow and the BA club world prices for direct ex LGW with a car seem very good. Anyone who's been on Club World can advise of best seats to book? My daughter has asked for a window seat but it seems you have to climb over someone who may be sleeping to get to the toilet. Is this correct? Any advice on the best seats for 3 of us including a window?

Thank You
Graeme

Google seat guru, shows the layout on all planes. Wish I had known about it before this year's LGW to MCO flight, then I might not have booked (& paid for) the only window seat without a window for my wife!

We had front 2 rows on LHS for 4 of us. So if you got first 2 next to window, and then the aisle seat behind, your daughter would be stepping over your legs not a stranger.

Geoff would certainly know

But we would say the last row in Club, as the window seat you wouldn't need to step over any legs

Happy Planning

Thanks for that.

Re window seats - no crawl over bodies -

Ok – to make life complicated BA have two different layouts on their 747-400 so until your check in day (exactly 24 hours before flight) you can’t be exactly sure which you will be on. However, you will be presented with one of the following layouts:

Left hand couple of pictures are a 299 seater so would recommend 20A or 20 K but you have to walk to the Lavatories at row 17. 14A is right against the loo. The small little squares are your foot rest. On the Upper deck 64A or 64K (Toilet just behind 64J)

Right hand couple of pictures are a 345 seater. Recommendations here are 20 A or 20 K (walk to row 17 for facilities. Upper deck 64A or 64K.

Be on that online check in at exactly 24 hours before – see which layout is from the above and then see if there is availability as recommended.

It's possible you might fly on a 777. If so stick to the Rear facing by window against bulk head.

If you are looking for similar for two - no body in your exit - go for the skycot row (E and F seats). This can only be booked at check in - online (24 hours in advance of flight time) or at the check in desk on the day.

You will be on a 777 either one with 40 or 48 club seats. There is also a possibility that you could be on 4 class one if it's a substitute aircraft. BA doesn't fly 747s from Gatwick anymore so you can ignore the seat plan that Geoffa put up... sorry Geoffa...

You will be on a 3 class 777 - 200 unless as previously mentioned the aircraft is subbed out due to a delay/technical problems or maintenance.
BA have a couple of different types of 777 that they use from Gatwick. Club on the Orlando route is usually a forward cabin with 4 or 5 rows and then a smaller 2 row cabin behind the mid galley/wc's/club kitchen and just before WT+
If you are on an aircraft with 4 forward rows seat 4A or 4K has a full compliment of windows and is at the rear bulkhead and the window seat doesn't need to step over anybody, but in the aircrafts with 5 forward rows the back bulkhead seats 5A/K have a missing window so you really have to lean forward to see out a window.
I tend to avoid the back row of the mini Club cabin as the cot space for WT+ is right behind you.

As above. For accurate seat plans I recommend thebasource rather than seatguru.

Geoff,
If not reserved for a baby, the sky cot seats can be reserved earlier than OLCI or at the airport.
If not reserved, they tend to be released around 3 days before flight; we could have booked them then if we wanted on a few occasions.
