I wouldn't go either.
It's a premium event, the type of event we avoid at home as much as we do when away. |

It’s not the cost that is an issue for me, it’s more the fact that it completely alienates a huge section of guests as those with young children aren’t going to want to go to a party for the whole evening as the children won’t stay up that late.
As I said in my earlier post, there are 2 showings of fireworks with the earlier showing at 6:30pm. Why not have these restaurants (or at least one of them!) available for booking for an earlier sitting that includes the earlier showing of the fireworks. This could be a 2.5 hour event from 4-6:30pm including a meal and finishing with watching the fireworks then they’d have plenty of time to turn the restaurant around reopening at 7:30/8pm for the real NYE party. In the instance of Toledo they have the huge Dahlia bar as well as the restaurant both with views of Epcot and Hollywood Studios, they could have used the bar as the location for the paid for party and then used the restaurant for general dining guests. I just think it’s incredibly shortsighted and frustrating

Whatever Disney do a huge section of guests will be excluded/alienated, you can't please everyone all of the time.
It might be me but every time I've been to WDW every night has a bigger fireworks/celebration night than anything I've been to at home. I don't see the point of chasing that one 'special night', kids certainly wouldn't know the difference between Wishes and NYE. I remember going to the Island at Downtown Disney and they had a NYE every night of the year. Would I go there on actual NYE? Not even if you paid me. |
